Typography Tuesday : Josh Higgins

Josh Higgins is the Design Director for the Obama 2012 campaign. He collaborated with Mike Carnevale to create this typographic gem. And yes, I am an Obama supporter but regardless I think the design (and the message) stands on it's own. I just received my very own "Yes We Can" print in the mail and I cannot wait to get it up in a frame! It's hard to tell from the photo but it is printed in silver ink - yay! You can purchase one for yourself (by clicking here) and all the proceeds go directly to the Obama For America 2012 campaign. You should also stop by Josh's website for a look at his other work.

Minted Challenge: It's Party Time

Hello friends... If you have a minute or two, I have some designs in the latest Minted challenge that could use your vote! I'm not really comfortable with cutesy design so I mostly stuck with the big kid niche. Anyway, while you're there please be sure to peruse and rate the other wonderful designs as well! Just click on the images to rate each one...THANKS!!

Monday Moments : Be In Love

Love this illustration by Small Talk Studio so much! Click here to see all the goodies in her Etsy shop... Have a great week!

Font Friday : Marian

I am completely in love with Marian... the font, that is! So so beautiful! And it is as expensive as it is beautiful... $80 per style or $600 for all 19 fonts! Eek!! At that price this will be on my wish list until I win the lottery... Oh well! If you've got the dough (good for you!) you can purchase Marian from Commercialtype.com

Btw, sorry for the ridiculously small text on the blog... Lame error on my part based on my browser settings. Oops!

SOPA Sucks

PROTECT IP / SOPA Breaks The Internet from Fight for the Future on Vimeo.

Across the Internet today websites are going dark to protest the SOPA and PIPA bills currently before Congress. I could not figure out how to do that for one day so I figured I would at least do a post instead (yeah, feeling rather lame). Anyway, to find out more, including how this would affect you and what you can do, visit: https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/

Musical Monday #1

Decided to switch it up a bit on Mondays because honestly sometimes I just don't feeling "motivational". However, I saw this recently and had to share... I just can't get over Walk Off The Earth's cover of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know"! Such an amazing song anyway and then add five people playing one guitar... Swoon.

Font Friday : Anodyne

I just purchased this amazing distressed typeface called Anodyne. It was recently released by Yellow Design Studio. If you love a nice grungy font this is the one for you! Anodyne has tons of alternates and open-type features. AND, it's on sale right now ...  all SIX styles for just $19!! Get it here.

Super Swoon 2.0 + Font Friday: Swept

So you may notice something is a little different around here... I welcome you to the new and improved Super Swoon! I will be phasing out my badly neglected Paper Dahlia blog and focusing on making this one even better. You will be seeing more posts about my own work, and probably more personal stuff in general.

I would LOVE to hear from you about what blog features you would like to see more of and what you would like to see less of ... so speak your mind, people!

And now onto this week's Font Friday loveliness!...

Swept by Peter Bekke is currently my favorite typeface at the moment (along with Mocha Mattari). But actually it's not a font... it's a handset typeface. Which if you've read this post you will remember it needs to be set into place "by hand". Which is always kind of a bummer for me because I'm lazy and I like easy. So if they ever made this in a system font format I would be totally down like James Brown on that. I love it so much I used it generously on my only two submissions in the current Minted Save The Date challenge, which is open for voting by the way... *wink, nudge*
