Minted Challenge: "Thanks A Million"

It's been quite a while since I entered a Minted challenge but I felt like it was time to get back into it. Part of the issue was that I just wasn't feeling inspired lately. However, I had a breakthrough of sorts this weekend when I discovered that I could paint something, scan and recolor it in Illustrator. I know, I know... people do it all the time! For some reason I just didn't think I could do it. I'm super excited about this because I LOVE to paint (I do have a BFA in Painting, for goodness sake)! I'm looking forward to experimenting more with paint and actually using my stockpile of art supplies.

**So, here are my two submissions for this thank you note challenge and I sure would thankful if you took a moment to rate them (not here, but on the Minted site)... Just click on the image!

Monday Moments: Keep Positive

I saw this quote on Pinterest this weekend and just loved the message... I was so inspired I decided to make my own graphic. Hope you enjoy! Have a great week, everyone!

Font Friday: Bratislove

From Bratislava with love... I present Bratislove! There isn't much information about this typeface except that it was designed in Bratislava. Well, I was intrigued. "Where the F is that?" I asked myself. Thanks to the mighty internet I found out it's the capitol city of Slovakia! Duh. Anywho, this is a great little font! I especially love the way it looks in smaller sizes and that ampersand is pretty swell too... Bratislove can be purchased HERE.

Ruined Polaroids by William Miller

I recently came across this amazing work of William Miller entitled Ruined Polaroids. I was instantly captivated by their organic color, shape, and spontaneous nature. Each image was taken with a partially broken SX-70 Polaroid camera. Each one a product of the idiosyncrasies of the film and the camera. See, just goes to show you that sometimes the best things do happen by accident!

Monday Moments: The Grass Is Greener

Happy Monday!
Update: Thanks to Amanda for the proper source of the image! It can be found at You Can't Be Serious and you can request to have a postcard mailed to you... Isn't that awesome?!

Which leads me to an interesting situation... I posted the image after doing about ten minutes of research online. I first spotted the image via Pinterest and then tracked it to a Tumblr site and then to a website. The link to the website was not a specific URL (meaning it took me to the home page). I tried to do a couple of local searches for "quotations", etc. but could not find it. I suppose I should have just given up there, but I felt like the chances were good that it originated from that site.

ANYWAY, I guess what it boils down to is that I need to rant for just a second about people not pinning or crediting from the proper source! Don't pin (or post) an image that doesn't credit a proper source. When you pin from a blog, pin from the actual post NOT from the home page or a search page. I always try to give credit to the artist because I understand - my "Be Awesome" print has been pinned thousands of times on Pinterest and who knows how many on Tumblr. Hopefully this all makes sense... And, I'm going to do a better job of following my own advice! If you have anything to add to the topic I would love to hear your thoughts!

Font Friday: Love Potion No. 10

Love Potion No. 10 is new typeface designed by Hannes von Döhren. Well, it's kinda adorable... I think it would be perfect for stationery or packaging (shown above - How awesome that they went the extra step with the photos?!). Love the ornaments and catch words too... so much fun to play with! Here's what My Fonts says about it:
Hannes von Döhren created Love Potion No. 10. Three fonts (Regular/Bold/Ornaments) that include extravagant Ligatures, Swash Letters, Catchwords, Arrows, Borders and other little specials. The hand drawn serif type family is intended to be used in applications like: Food, Clothes, Living, Wedding stationery or basically everywhere where love is in the air…

Love Potion No. 10 is equipped for professional typography. As an exclusively OpenType release, these fonts have an extended character set to support Central and Eastern European as well as Western European languages. In addition to that the fonts contain Standard ligatures, Swash Letters, Catchwords, Arrows, Borders and much more.
And it's on sale right now for $29 which I think is a pretty sweet deal for three fonts! You can get it HERE.

Doesn't get much better than that... Oh wait, it does! Because it's on sale right now! You can get it right HERE.
