Font Friday: Nervatica

I've been on a serious font buying binge lately... my wallet is tired and cranky! But it's all for the greater design good, hopefully! Anyway, this week's Font Friday pick is one of my recent purchases. Yep, I love me some funky fonts and Nervatica by Tour de Force is no exception!

It comes in two weights: regular and bold. I only bought regular but I might be going back for bold soon. Also included are some cute dingbats and a good amount of glyph coverage. Not a bad deal for the price ($17.50 until June 11). You can check it out at MyFonts.com.

Font Friday: Gemmadonati

This week I am featuring a recent font purchase that I just love... it's Gemmadonati by Eurotypo. I love the beautiful hand-calligraphy look but don't always love the "sweetness" of some calligraphy fonts these days. Gemmadonati is an organic, modern and casual calligraphy family font.

Gemmadonati has a more grown up feel which is perfect for wedding invitations and personal stationery. Below you can see I used it in a recent Minted submission (which you can still vote on by clicking on the image, btw!). I think is a good choice for the festive vibe of this design...
Gemmadonati comes with a bunch of alternates and endings to play with. Added bonus: It's 20% off right now until the end of May at MyFonts.com!

Art Work: Elisa Werbler

It's been a while since I've done an Art Work feature but I've been pinning lots of art on my Artsy Pinterest board so I thought it was about time to share some of the goodies. I came across Elisa Werbler's work via The Jealous Curator and was instantly smitten. These are all hand-pulled silkscreens of birthstones... just beautiful!

You can find more of Elisa's lovely prints in her Big Cartel shop!

Minted + West Elm = Art

Probably most of you don't know this about me but I have a BFA in painting. I made art for many years and kinda stopped when I got into graphic design. I think my painting has always had a graphic feeling, so graphic design was a natural extension of that. But when I had my daughter six years ago, I sold all my oil paints and put away my easel. However, I still have acrylic and watercolor  paints (which I've dug out of the closet) so I've been playing with those lately and it feels great!

Anyway, I had a ton of fun working on this latest Minted art challenge! I really feel inspired to start making more art. West Elm will be choosing a handful of art prints to be sold on their website, hence all the West Elm images. And I actually had a lot of fun doing these boards because it was like going shopping without spending my money! If you like what you see, please take a moment to rate some of my pieces on the Minted site... Just click on the images. Oh, and rating closes this Friday, 5/3! Thank you!!
